Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Operator will operate heavy machinery for construction, demolition, concrete breaking and removal projects.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operates construction, excavation and demolition equipment including excavators, front end loaders and skid steers.
- Ability to load dump trucks with broken concrete utilizing an excavator or front end loader.
- Ability to break concrete with an excavator with hydraulic breaker.
- Operates machinery used to build and/or demolish bridges, buildings and highways.
- Inspects and fuels equipment prior to beginning shift.
- Communicate clearly with dispatch and supervisors
- Performs routine maintenance and repairs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities.
- Excellent mechanical skills.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Proficient in English
- Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as safety standards.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience working with heavy equipment
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
- Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
