Job Description

Main Purpose:

Provide overall administrative and technical direction for Contracts review and compliance. Serve as subject-matter expert on contracts in area of authority.
Assist the Director, Contracts and Legal Counsel in the performance of his duties.

  • Corporate Paralegal; External Support Entities
  • Customers

Specific Role Responsibilities:


  • Must be an accountable and dependable team player
  • Use diplomacy, respect and firmness in performance of duties
  • Review incoming contracts for completeness and compliance with Penhall policies; prepare for signature as required by Penhall policies.
  • Work with Finance team and CFO to process bond and other payment guarantee documents.
  • Interface with and assist other company contracts managers to process contractual documentation as required
  • Build trust and demonstrate dependability in performance of duties; be an accountable and dependable team player
  • Assist the Director of Contracts in the review of contracts and drafting of contract clauses to protect Penhall
  • Assist the Director of Contracts and Legal Counsel as directed
  • Serve as point-of-contact for contracts and contractual advice to Penhall team members
  • Maintain contractual records and documentation
  • Draft letters and prepare correspondence in accordance in standard business form
  • Handle ongoing issues with deliberation and a sense of urgency
  • Monitor transaction compliance and timeliness
  • Ensure “completed staff work” when performing duties
  • Be prepared to work “outside-the-box” to assist in the Penhall mission
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Job Requirements

  • Baccalaureate business or engineering, or equivalent combinations of training and related experience, including at least 15 hours in business law; finance; accounting and business communications
  • 3-5 years of paralegal; contracts management; or business experience working in a business support role in construction or related industry
  • Must be collaborative; a team player
  • Must be familiar with a broad spectrum of contracts and their use and purpose (MSAs; NDA; POs; subcontracts; change orders; amendments; teaming agreements; service-level agreements, etc.)
  • Be able to read, understand, analyze and interpret contract clauses
  • Be able to draft contract clauses that protect the interests of Penhall
  • English – proficient in business writing and oral communication
  • Have the ability to build trust with internal and external clients
  • Understand financial terms and basic financial instruments (bonds; guarantees; payment security)
  • Familiarity with construction (technology, equipment, methods); Company policies, procedures and standards; and union jurisdiction, labor agreements, negotiations
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills required
  • Computer/Office Machines – Microsoft Work, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random screening for illegal substances
